Having fun at Disneyland Paris

As a child I used to love Disney’s movies: Peter Pan, Snow White, Aladdin, The Lion King and more, each and every one of them filled with adventures and magic, well designed characters and a happy-ever-after stories which allows us to escape from reality for a little while.
It’s not a secret that I got inspired a lot from Disney movies, so that is why it was only logical for me to come and see the magic of Disneyland Paris from first hand, and get inspired while having some fun.

As those of you who follow our blog regularly probably remember, we were out for vacation last November, which was just the time in which the park was well decorated for Christmas.
In my opinion, Disneyland Paris castle is with no doubt the most beautiful castle that Disney has ever build.

Some of the park’s attractions are true gems:
‘Big Thunder Mountain’ coaster has it’s very own island!
The coaster is surrounded by a lake, while the loading station is on shore. When you start the ride you cross the lake through a dark tunnel.

The decaying Phantom manor, that stands on the top of a small hill, reveals the story of Melanie, the young bride who waited for her groom but he never showed up. That was because a mysterious Phantom had lured her fiancée up the manor’s attic where he hanged him by the neck!

On Adventureland there are a lot of places to explore, hidden treasures to be found and interesting architecture to be seen. This is where I got the inspiration for our upcoming game: “Carmel Explorers Society”.

And now for the ride which I think is the best – The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!
It is actually located in the adjacent park, the Walt Disney Studios.
On October 31, 1939, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was struck by a lightning, transporting an elevator car along with it’s passengers into the Twilight Zone.
Now you have the chance to get inside the service elevator of this abandoned hotel, but keep in mind you’ll might find yourself moving into… The Twilight Zone! Muhaha!

There is a lot more to see, but since this post has turned out to be long enough I’ll stop here 🙂
The most important thing is that I got some inspiration for a few games you’ll see in the near future.
We will keep you posted regarding the Tammy Joe Superstar game in the following days.

Cheers!

You’re rich!! Enjoy your vacations (again

They had a great offer with 2 days for free, so the price was affordable.

I wonder if it might give you further inspiration if I point you to the real castle that was the basis for the original Disneyland castle. That would be the stunningly beautiful Castle Neuschwanstein in south Germany, built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Look it up at Google Images… 😉

    • Moti

As a Disney fan I know the story of the Neuschwanstein Castle, I hope I will be able to travel there someday in the near future.
There’s also the Bran Castle, aka Dracula’s Castle, in Romania, which I also hope explore someday.

      • AnnieK

Romania is very beautiful too. If you do visit Neuschwanstein, I would recommend combining it with a visit across the border to Salzburg, in Austria – two very worth-seeing sites there, the Hellbrunn Castle garden with its trick fountains, and the old underground salt mine, which has been turned into a very fun museum. 🙂

Thanks for the info, Salzburg looks amazing.

    u r tooo lucky

Thanks for sharing those wonderful pics! I’ve been to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, as well as the adjacent MGM studio. It’s nice to see how they differ. I’d love to experience the other Disney parks, as well…

    • Moti

I’ve never been to Disney World in Orlando, but I think it’s much better than Disneyland Paris. Some of the classic rides, like Splash Mountain and Jungle Cruise do not exist in Paris.
Also, with the new Fantasyland expansion and new rides like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Walt Disney World in Florida has a lot more to offer.

  • TJ

Oh, and speaking of Twilight Zone… do you have a favorite episode?

    • Moti

      Yup 🙂
“Shelter Skelter”, have you seen this episode?

      • TJ

That was good… I hadn’t actually seen that one. I don’t think I’ve seen any Twilight Zones that weren’t in black and white, with the exception of the movie.

        • Moti

I haven’t seen the movie, is it worth watching?

          • TJ

It’s not bad… they just modernized a few of the old black and white episodes, and put them into one movie. It’s worth seeing, but not quite as good as the originals, in my opinion.

  • Verona

I want to go there. It looks awesome!!

  • Bianca

Oh, The Tower of Terror! I absolutely loved it, mainly because I had only a vague idea of what to expect, XD. Were you pleasantly(or should I say creepily) surprised when the lift actually moved forward? The entire ride was ‘jaw-droppingly’ amazing!

    • Moti

Unlike The Tower of Terror of Disney World, Orlando, the French and the Californian versions of the ride do not move forward once they go up, nevertheless, the ride is amazing 😉
