Halloween?! In the middle of March?!
Yes! The reason is very simple – we want to make it the best Halloween game that we ever had, so we will need the extra time so can draw high detailed backgrounds and find suitable music and sound effects that will really get you into the mood.
My initial thought for this year’s Halloween game was a remake for Pierre Hotel, which was released three years ago.
The game features Adam as the protagonist. His wife disappears while checking into this strange hotel. But there were some problems and errors in the game:
We usually read the feedback on Kongregate and Newgrounds, it helps us learn and improve, as long as it contains constructive criticism, not foolish nonsense:
Once Adam kills the vampire in the reception and rescues his wife, the player watches the game’s ending:
We have forgot about the bartender, it could have been a great twist at the end to watch him take the axe off the wall or something.
Anyways, that’s just one idea. It is also possible to try something more bold, where you get to play a murderer, just like in the board game 13 Dead End Drive.
The players’ goal in Dead End Drive is to kill the characters controlled by the other players, in order to claim the fortune of the late aunt Agatha.
There are several ways to get rid of your opponents: drop a chandelier on their head, shove a heavy statue, crush their bones, etc.
Another idea which I recently encountered was involving a crazy sea captain.
One of the first plans they had in Disney for the Haunted Mansion was to turn it into a house for a sea captain and his wife. According to the story, written by Ken Anderson, the captain’s wife discovered his secret: he’s not really a sea captain, but a murderous blood thirsty pirate.
The so called sea captain locked his wife in the basement and she has never been seen since (alive that is)…

Although Disney’s imagineers ended up choosing a different story line for the haunted mansion, you can still find the crypt of the sea captain, inspired by Ken Anderson’s original sea captain, while waiting at the haunted mansion’s queue.

Anyway – once again – the stage is yours! Feel free to share your thoughts and don’t be afraid of using crazy and violent ideas, we really want to do something special this year so no rules 🙂
