We Want to Know You!

Hi everybody!
Five days ago was the Get to Know Your Customers Day – so in being fashionably late, we really want to know you better!
So if you have the time, go ahead and answer this 5-questions-survey (it’s really short, and it’s completely anonymous).
As always, if you have anything else you wish to say, you can write it in the comments section below or email us using the contact form.

Other than that, we hope you had fun babysitting with Anthony, because he’ll be returning for another adventure next week, this time at… Potato Island.

The work on the book is going a little slow, mostly because we’re currently focusing on VP8 (which will be the longest VP game ever):

That’s all for today, thank you for your cooperation 🙂

  • hinatagirl

I would love to play another Vortex Point and other creepo game

  • John Jones

A few questions on Vortex Point 8. Is this a sequel to the previous seven, a prequel (making it maybe VP0) or reboot/differing take on the characters?

    • Diego Banks

Please don´t take my reply as an insult but it is pretty dumb to ask that. Of course they prefer for you to wait and see for yourself after it’s released. I mean it’s not like any of this games have a really complex lore. And precisely because they don’t have a super detail background I don’t see why: a) this is such an important thing to ask? and b) why would they make this a prequel without saying it will be or making it explicitly obvious.

Anyways don’t take it as an insult just stating some things that seem obvious to me.

      • John Jones

Please take this as an insult, but it is pretty dumb to say “please don’t take this as an insult but it is pretty dumb to ask that.” There’s no other way to take that except as an insult, so just commit to it without pretending that it isn’t kind of rude.

This game series is 7 and soon 8 installments long. In the previous 7 games Kevin, Craig and Caroline investigate paranormal crime (and there’s even a theme song to that effect) together. In this game Kevin and Caroline are still together as investigators while Craig is off selling weird antiques and the like. The configuration of these characters has changed. Why has it changed? Was this the situation before the three came together to investigate stuff? Did something happen that cause Craig to leave the other two (perhaps the death of the professor in the previous VP game)? Or is this more of a “soft reboot” of the series with the characters in different places?

I’m interested in this game setting and the way the characters interact within that setting. So, I ask these questions because I’m curious about the way that the Vortex Point story is evolving over time.

        • Diego Banks

No. I said “don’t take it as an insult” because you don’t have to take it that way. You are choosing to. I said “don’t take it as an insult” because I’m not calling YOU dumb, I’m saying that what you are asking I find dumb. I said that because it has nothing to do with you personallh. I don’t know you and I don’t cre to attack you personally. And because we all ask dumb things someyimes. Because we all do dumb things. Because being dumb isn’t slmething definetive we are all dumb or silly every once in a while and there’s nothing wrong or insulting about that. You can only possibly take it as an insult if you want to pretend that you are an all-knowing being and you never say dumb things. I say dumb things all the time. Nothing wrong. That’s why it isn’t and insilt. I just found the question dumb. Okay?

Now to answer your other questions, and of course this is just my personal opinion ipane interpretation of the matter. You are looking too far into it. You are making it more complex than it needs to be. The most likely reason why Craig wasn’t in the game was because it’s cheaper and maybe they just didn’t need that extra character there. Because Craig and Caroline barely do anything in the games and it’s easier having to animate or voice less characters. And if they aren’t vital to the story some times it’s better to leave them out. I think they mentioned something like this in another post jn this site. Sl,ething about wanting craig and caroline to be more active and useful in the game. And about saving on animation.

I fail to see how not having a charcter physically visible in a game is a change in the configuration of the characters. Of any character, really. Why is he not being there, for just one game, means every thing in the whole univers changed? It didn’t. Why are you sapeaking as if he was gone definetly or as if this HAD to mean something. Ompletly changed. Like I said, it most likely was because of budget issues andI think I read something about the fact they they would try to only includ neceary characters in the story.

Also, if you yourself said that the explanation for him not being there was that he was off somewhere else selling antiques why are you asking why wasn’t he in the game? See this is the logic that I use to determine that your question is kinda dumb. You’re just giving it too much thought when the answer you’re looking for is in the same question you just asked. Is he selling antiques not a good enough excuse for you? Do really think it can only mean they are ploting something secretly and that it wasn’t just related to the budget?Again, not an insult. I don’t know you and I don’t care to attack you personally. I just think this is a dumb question.

But I said it once and I’ll say it again. It’s not like there is a deep lore behing this games. They fun, awesome and creative. I love them. But I don’t love them for being the kost complex thing in the world. Quite the opposite. I love them because they know they are more of a kid frendly type of game that wants to have challanging puzzles. But they don’t pretend to be super complex or super deep. They are making a game talpking place in Potato Islan for gods sake. And I will play it and love it! But it’s no something to get philosofical about. And ask if that excistence of the islan mean they kive in a univers were they worship potatoes and stuff.

          • John Jones

Craig is in the game. He’ll be running the antique/occult shop. The question wasn’t “why isn’t he in the game?” It’s what’s the story behind him being in a different role/situation? It’s the story I want to learn about. It’s the story that makes Vortex Point really cool.

I’m going to let your paragraph about dumbness stand without comment, because the whole thing strikes me as a little dumb.

          • Diego Banks

OMG! It’s like writing letters to a door. Man you’d struggle to poor water out of a boot with the insteuctions in the heel. And now I do think you are dumb. First off your comment makes no sense. You start with “Craing is in the game”. Then ten words later you ask “why isn’t he in the game?” Whaaaa???! 3 deep 5 me! The drafting is also terrible.

First I just though your logic was flawed now I see there is just no logic.

Listen you need to understand the diference between lore and the story in game. The story in the game is always different. The lore is the story behind the characters. We have no lore. We don’t have their reaskns for being paranormal investigators. And that’s why it isn’t complex.

You’re just acting is if it was pretty deep when it isn’t it’s just a game. Like I said it most likely was just because of bidget issues. But I don’t know why I’m bothering to tell you this… AGAIN.

You’re not letting my paragraph “go without a comment” you’re just too dumbe to understand it or know how to reply. You could barely reply at all and you made it in a porly thought out maner that only showed you didn’t even bother to read my comment and now your dumbness shows even more.

So listen I already explained this to you. You ask things that make no sense and you want to make simple things of a simple game sound more complicated than what it really is, so until you actually bother to read my whole comments and wirte properly I’m dine trying to explain things to you. Bye.

          • Diego Banks

OMG! It’s like writing letters to a door. Man, you’d struggle to poor water out of a boot with the instructions in the heel. And now I do think you are dumb. First, your comment makes no sense. You start with “Craing is in the game”. Then ten words later you ask “why isn’t he in the game?” Whaaaat???! 3 deep 5 me! The drafting is also terrible.

First I just though your logic was flawed now I see there is just no logic.

Listen, you need to understand the diference between lore and the in-game story. The story in the game is always different. The lore is the story behind the characters. We have no lore. We don’t have their reasons for being paranormal investigators. That is the lore and there is noe of it. And that’s why it isn’t complex. No lore. Just the story they give us for each mystery. Which isn’t complex either. They just literally tell us what’s going on.

You’re just acting is if it was pretty deep when it isn’t. It’s just a game. Like I said. It most likely was just because of budget issues. But I don’t know why I’m bothering to tell you this… AGAIN.

So, until you actually bother to read my whole comments and wirte properly, I’m done trying to explain things to you. Bye.

          • John Jones

You might want to work on your reading/comprehension skills. Here, let’s try it again. Craig is in the game. The question is NOT “Why isn’t he in the game?” The question is “Why has his role changed?” That’s a valid question.

Another question is “Why do you care about questions not directed to you?”

Ah well, keep crying, little baby, maybe someone will give the attention you want, but I’m done with you now.

  • Diego Banks

Can’t wait for VP. Do you have an expected date of release. At least a month? I sound so pushy but I actually do hope you take the time you need to make it as awesome and big as you want. I have big expectations for the game.

Also are we going to get a gatekeeper sequel or it that totally out?

    • Diego Banks

Nevermind I already saw another comment when you said it will get a sequel. Thanks.

  • John Jones

I’ll also say that I really like the music for Babysitting Fun. Master of the Feast struck just the right note of playful excitement.
